ORI Library to Archive BWMA' s Hunting Data & Records

Following suspension of the commercial hunting industry in 2014, the Botswana Wildlife Management Association (BWMA) is winding up its operations and wishes to preserve the data and records accumulated over the years. The information collected will be transferred to ORI Library which will provide access to this legacy collection.

The Library will be working with BWMA to process the materials so that the data can be incorporated in the library collection. Library staff will also make this information publicly available by entering the data in to the online database of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility's - Biodiversity Information for Development which is funded by the European Union.

Information in this records includes reports, quotas, correspondence, trophy descriptions and biological specimens. The collection contains unique and baseline data that is useful in planning for the sustainable use of wildlife.
